Musicians and Albert Lam at the historic Van Gelder Studio:

Left to Right: Josh Bruneau, Essiet Essiet, Steve Davis, Albert Lam, Anthony Ware, Winard Harper, Steve Nelson

Albert shares that while studying at Bloom School of Jazz, Bloom was the one that got him interested in composing and arranging and "he equipped me with the skills that one needs to be able to do that. I thank David for planting that seed" and nurturing the process to accomplish it. Through Bloom's connections, with the studio and professional musicians of the highest caliber, the album was recorded at Van Gelder Studio. Albert values David's ears and says, "I greatly appreciated David’s role as the producer."

In the process, Albert shares that Bloom's custom exercises helped him. "He teaches a number of different exercises which train your ears as well as your mind and your fingers to improvise ideas and to develop ideas. If you're just regurgitating language, you know how to say it but you don't know how to necessarily develop it. David emphasizes how to take an idea and work with it in many different ways to make a greater musical statement."

"It was an honor. Just to be there, at such a historical place, and to be in the presence of some amazing musicians who brought everything to the music was very powerful for me, and I'm just truly grateful to have had that experience. It was a lot of work to put this all together but it was totally worth it."
