Playing music can be intimidating to many people. The reason why is the same reason people avoid many things in life: They are afraid of failing on the first try. This comes as a real shame because EVERYBODY with a heartbeat has a rhythm inside, and is capable of making beautiful music.

Finding Your Voice breaks down the barriers that prevent you from taking that first step. Stick your proverbial "big toe" into the pond and get your first taste of making music. You don't have to have any particular expectation of yourself, just to show up and follow along. Students are introduced to rhythm, melody, and harmony. The day is split into two 1 1/2 hour sessions, with a lunch in the middle.

You Will:

- play a drum set and clap in rhythm

- play a 12 bar blues on bass, drum, piano, or guitar

- receive an evaluation of your musical inclination and aptitude

- learn basic scales and chords

- develp your musical ear

- understand why the music you love sounds good to you

- discover new music

- understand the basics of melody, harmony, and rhythm
